Overview
Every day, millions of users play NYT’s puzzle games—Wordle and Connections, to name a few. Upon discovering the games, new players are often eager to access past puzzles. Users who have played previous levels are more likely to come back for more, providing the opportunity for subscriber conversion and retention.

This summer, I designed and prototyped a subscriber-exclusive feature that aims to enhance conversion and create a space for players to build a stronger personal profile and game history.

Figma, Figjam, After Effects, Lottie

This summer, the Games team released a new stats and streaks feature for Connections, a daily puzzle game where players must find groups of four items that share something in common. Right before its launch, I worked on an animation that would draw users' attention to the new feature as part of a feature announcement popup!

Prototyping a game!

All the interns on the Games team came together to participate in a mini 2-day sprint where our main goal was to experience the process of prototyping, iterating through, and playtesting puzzle games.

I worked on prototyping and designing the concept for a Connections spin-off, where the goal is to find the odd one out instead of grouping into categories.

We were also adamant about designing a game whose logo had new mascot/plushie potential.
